This is a retail mixed use, residential new construction project.   Wallace On Sunset project is a beautiful addition to historical Hollywood, it is a 7 story apartment building over two story subterranean parking structure, with 200 units and 311 parking stalls located on Sunset Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90028. This project sits adjacent to the historical Earl Carroll theatre.

Project Description

Stone Roofing had the pleasure of completing a commercial roofing solar project. Property Owners are always looking for ways to reduce monthly costs, so solar energy is a great step in the right direction.  Stone Roofing is here to help property owners on any commercial roofing needs.

Light-weight, white reflective roof membrane was installed to reduce heat island effects of the building while providing the versatility of a heat-weldable material to protect the roof structure from water. This 465,000 sq. ft. roof was covered with a highly reflective, versatile TPO roofing membrane to meet the owners’ sustainability goals, desired warranty terms, and prepare for a solar panel installation by SunEdison. This project required precise coordination with SunEdison’s solar installation teams in order to keep 1,800 PV rack system standoff penetrations sealed to a water-tight condition at the end of each day. Combining a bright white reflective roof surface with the power of solar gives this warehouse, in the California desert of Hesperia, the highest levels of energy efficiency and savings.

Project Description

In 2019, Stone Roofing had the opportunity to make roofing repairs for the DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse located in the Metro Pointe shopping center in Costa Mesa. The majority of the roof is a colored built up membrane, however a small section of TPO Membrane was also found. The main focus of this job was to replace the deteriorated drainage area with brand new white TPO, in addition to scanning and making repairs as needed across the rest of the built up roof. Miscellaneous permanent repairs included sealing exposed pipe penetrations and sealing deteriorated membrane on the walls. The entire roof was also professionally cleared of all debris and trash.
Stone Roofing makes it a priority to complete the customer’s requests accurately and in a timely manner, all without disrupting typical business, as was demonstrated on this job.

A Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) system was applied to insulate the massive rooftop HVAC ducting at Cedar-Sinai’s Advanced Health Sciences Pavilion, helping to achieve a LEED Gold certification. Since SPF acts as an air barrier, it also helps to reduce moisture infiltration, which is a source of dangerous mold and mildew growth and can cause severe health problems to its occupants. Coating the ducts with the seamless spray foam material creates a fully insulated, leak-free, efficient duct system.  Using a bright white coating in conjunction with foam helps to keep the sun from heating up treated, cooled air.

Stone Roofing had the pleasure of working on the Ford Factory commercial roof project located in Downtown Los Angeles.  It was built in 1913 to manufacture Ford Model T automobiles The poured-concrete and block building was the second Ford Motor plant to be built west of the Mississippi. It has become one the most iconic buildings in Downtown Los Angeles.

The property has been restored and redeveloped into a premier creative office campus and preserving the property’s authenticity and historical significance. Character-defining features include: expansive floor plates, mushroom cap columns, factory-style windows and skylights, and a rooftop water tower. The Ford Factory Los Angeles is one of the highest quality examples of adaptive reuse in the city.

A bright-white reflective roof was installed over the corporate headquarters, manufacturing/warehouse facility. This redevelopment project is the largest industrial structure in Irwindale’s history. The building incorporates sustainable elements into its design. A highly insulated, bright-white reflective roof keeps heat from Southern California’s unforgiving sun out of the building. This helps lower temperatures inside the offices and production warehouse areas; it also lowers the required energy from HVAC systems.  A passive ventilation system was installed along with over 1,300 specialty designed skylights.

Stone Roofing enjoyed working closely with the owners, and designed a roof system that would not impede with the structure itself. The existing roof assembly was completely deteriorated and was constantly leaking. By adding a highly reflective roof surface, the foam roof system increased its R value. The 1.5” Foam Roof has an approx. R value of 10.  Bright white granules embedded in white acrylic coating over new Polyurethane roof system on the flat roof areas and a tan color on the sloped roof area was utilized keep glare down on their roof top deck area. This roof system was designed to keep the existing roof system in place and allow us to redesign the slope of the roof for better roof drainage. We also sealed all the exposed HVAC duct work on the roof; which will help save the Fonda Theatre money on Heating and Cooling expenses.  The benefit of having this type of roof assembly is that over the years it will provide a cost savings to the Fonda Theatre.
