Project Background
Stone Roofing had the opportunity to work on the commercial roof of a local brewery project located in Irwindale, California. The Irwindale Brewery opened in 1980 and brews up to 6 million barrels of beer a year. It is also the home to the largest solar panel installation at any U.S. brewery.
Over the course of several years, a large sustainability project at all associated Breweries will include a highly reflective roof surfacing. Highly reflective Rock-It Adhesive was used as a cold applied aggregate with white marble aggregate embedded to ensure a strong, fully reflective roof. The bright white gravel surfacing combines the durability and weatherproofing aspects of gravel-surfaced roof systems. The benefits of a “cool roof” system aid in lower energy costs, reduced heat absorption, reduced carbon output, and less strain on the building’s HVAC system.
