Project Background

Santa Monica College is a community college offering an affordable yet unparalleled education in the Los Angeles area. SMC was founded just before the Great Depression in 1929. However, the institution prevailed, now enrolling over 30,000 students in 2021. SMC is known today for being ranked #1 in transfer rates to UCLA, USC, LMU, and the UC system, making it very attractive for prospective students.

In 2016, Santa Monica College constructed their new Student Services building with the help of Stone Roofing. Stone installed a fully adhered 60 mil PVC membrane over coverboard and insulation over the roof deck. This came complete with over 600 flashings to ensure all solar panel supports are watertight. Overall, Stone Roofing is glad to be a part of Santa Monica College’s ongoing and successful history.
